Ugh……I’m Feeling Some Kind of Way!

Blah days, we all have had our share of them.  I use to struggle with how to deal with them.   Just the other day I woke up feeling pretty okay, however, there was something nagging at me.  The sun was shining and nothing unusual took place.  I usually start my day with prayer and meditation but this particular day, I did not feel like doing that.  I knew then it was going to be one of those days. I called my husband and told him “I’m feeling some kind of way.”  He asked what was going on and I could not quite put my finger on it.  What I did know was that it was beginning to feel like a blah day. Great! What choice will I make today: give in to it or do something about it? Of course, I chose to do something about it. I must say, it was not easy.

What do you do when you are having a blah day?  I used to give into to them, which was not the smart thing to do.  Depression began to set in which made it harder for me to deal with. As a result I got nothing done. Depression definitely paralyzes you.   Negative thoughts start entering in and those thoughts become complaints.  Whew!  It was using up to much energy and at the end of the day, I was exhausted. Now I did not have these days often, but when they would happen, they lasted for a few days.

One day, I made the choice to press through the day. I got in my car, got my favorite coffee (starbucks) and went for a ride.  I visited a friend and by the time I got back home, I was not feeling blah anymore. Wow!!!  Pressing through the day actually worked.  It was at that moment, I realized, I am normal.  Everyone has blah days from time to time.  How you handle it makes all the difference in the world.

Don’t be too hard on yourself when experiencing a blah day.  Here are some things you can do to help:

  1. Make the choice to do something.  It is a choice!  You can choose to give into the blah day and let it get the best of you or you can choose to not allow it to dictate your day.
  2. Put on some uplifting music.  I start singing and dancing myself happy.  Music is so soothing.  It makes you laugh and feel good all over.
  3. Read something inspiring to feed your mind. When you are having a blah day, negative thoughts can enter in.  Get a jump-start by feeding your mind with great things; a good book or some affirmations.
  4. Reach out to a trusted friend or accountability partner. When you are inside of the frame, it is hard to see the picture. They see what you cannot see.
  5. Give yourself permission to be. Take the time to love on you and refill your cup. Your blah day might represent a depleted cup. Stop giving out of an empty cup. Give from your overflow.

Remember this, blah days, we all have them, but when you live your life from a place of love, everything else becomes that much easier. Live your best life everyday!

Yes we all have blah days and it’s our choice on how to cope with them. The tips you provided may prove beneficial to move past those blah days and have more great days.
