A Change Has Begun: Can You See It?

by admin on April 9, 2011

speakingI love Sam Cooke’s song “A Change is Gonna Come.”  In the beginning of the song he starts out by saying: “I was born in a little tent and just like the river I’ve been running ever since.  It’s been a long time coming but I know a change gonna come.”   Are you running to and fro wondering if God is going to fulfill his promise?  You know the story of the people of Israel. I know I’ve heard it so many times.  I probably could recite in my sleep (I’ll get back to that in a moment.)  God delivered the people of Israel out of bondage and yet they kept running to and fro.  They complained every chance they got because they could not see the change that God had made in their lives. They could not see beyond their tent over the horizon. What tent are you still living in?

A change was taking place for me; however, I could not see beyond my tent. Now, I did not realize I had built this tent. As I would read the story of the people of Israel, I noticed some similar traits – fear of the unknown, complaining and whining; taking matters into my own hands.  I think you get the picture. This was the tent I had built.  A change was taking place, however it was not fast enough for me. I wanted it now, not understanding that I was going through a preparation process; and not realizing that God was taking care of me. So, I want to ask you again: What tent are you living in? What is keeping you from seeing over into the horizon?

It is time to come out of your tent and notice the change that has already begun.  A great work has begun in you. Can you see it?  In order to completely see it and see the full manifestation of the change will require some work from you. Shedding the tent will require you to dig it up because it has been held down by stakes that were driven deep into the ground. In this season of your life, if you want see the true change, then it is time to roll up your sleeves and start digging.  Look over the horizon and see the change. The end of Sam’s song reads: “Oh there been times I thought I couldn’t last for long, but now I think I am able to carry on.  It’s been a long, long time coming but I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will.” Can you see it? Your change is already here!

I’m just sayin’

Love you to life!
